Emerald International Management Team

Jack Wells
Jack Wells is a graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Accounting. He began his career in 1985 in the property development industry where he held various financial positions. Jack co-founded Emerald in 1991. Under his leadership, the company has grown from 4.5 million in revenue to over 250 million in the past 20 years. Jack’s hobbies include golf and skiing. He is married and has two boys.

  Steve Weber
Steve joined Emerald International in 1995 as Vice President of coal procurement and sales. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in marketing. He spent 5 years with B.F. Goodrich Tire Company before joining Logan & Kanawha Coal Company in 1984. Steve’s hobbies include boating and golf. He is married and has a daughter and a son.
  Chris Hastings
Chris Hastings joined Emerald in January 2006 and will be responsible for the company's domestic coal trading activities. Chris attended West Virginia State College. He currently holds a U.S. Coast Guard Master of Towing pilot license. Before joining Emerald, Chris held various management, operation, and transportation positions for Progress Fuels. He is married and has a daughter and a son.
  Jill Karst
Joining Emerald in 1993, Jill is the personal assistant to owner Jack Wells. She also manages all office procedures and transportation logistics. Before Emerald, Jill spent several years in the US Navy developing accounting and management interests.
  Mike Goff
Mike Goff joined Emerald in August 2008 and is responsible for the company’s domestic/industrial rail and utility sales. Mike is a graduate of a local high school and has attended coal technology classes at a college in his home town. Mike started out in coal sales in 1978 and has held several management positions with many respected coal companies. Personally, he has been in charge of up to 4-7 million tons per year of both industrial and utility sales. He is married and has 1 daughter and 1 son.
  Tonya Mahorney
Tonya joined Emerald International as a receptionist and office clerk in 1995. Prior to Emerald and after attending Tri-State Travel School, Tonya spent several years in the travel industry with Comair Airlines and White Heron Travel Agency. Tonya is now married with two children.
